The Cingular-enabled mobile products from Sybase's iAnywhere subsidiary include: M-Business Anywhere, Mobile Pharma, Mobile Sales, and Pylon Anywhere, as well as Unwired Accelerator.
The Sybase software is designed to allow enterprise and SMB customers to build and deploy existing corporate applications and information systems to their mobile workforce.
M-Business Anywhere provides a platform for delivering Web-based content and applications to mobile devices, with minimal recoding. Mobile Pharma is a customizable packaged mobile software application designed specifically for pharmaceutical sales forces.
Mobile Sales gives salespeople access to business information on their handheld devices. Pylon Anywhere delivers access to Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange information, including e-mail, calendar, contacts, notes and tasks, from PDAs and smartphones.
Unwired Accelerator mobilizes Web-enabled enterprise applications, databases and other data sources for a variety of mobile devices.
Cingular operates the nation's largest wireless digital voice and data network in terms of subscribers. The network serves 95 of the Fortune 100 companies, 80% of the Fortune 500 and over 1,200 federal, state and local government agencies.
Sybase also announced that it plans to extend iAnywhere support to the Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry wireless platform. Companies already using BlackBerry for enterprise e-mail will be able to enable access to other line-of-business applications, such as sales force automation and field service.
Organizations will also be able to securely manage BlackBerry devices and applications with the Sybase software, Sybase says.
Veritext, the second largest national provider of court-reporting services, already uses Sybase iAnywhere to provide Web and e-mail access via BlackBerry to corporate and law firm transcripts, Sybase says.
Lastly, Sybase announced that it has entered into a strategic partner agreement with CellStar, a logistics and distribution company, to incorporate Sybase's mFolio Content Services Solution into CellStar's existing wireless product and services. The deal enables CellStar to provide the mFolio Content Services Solution to wireless carriers via a range of smart phones.
The new offering, CellStar mFolio Powered by Sybase, is a standalone mobile software application that enables the delivery of device-optimized Internet content to wireless subscribers. CellStar will integrate mFolio on devices for carriers, and will have rights to embed and sell mFolio to regional carriers and MVNOs in the North American market.
